What this site is

The Existential Bookstore is one reader's reviews and notes, written by Jason Flanzbaum. Everything here is personal opinion about books. It is not professional, financial, medical, or legal advice. By using the site you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy.

Affiliate links

As an Amazon Associate the site owner earns from qualifying purchases. Bookshop.org links are affiliate links too; purchases through them support independent bookstores and this site. Prices, availability, shipping, and returns belong to the store you buy from, not to this site.

Content and copyright

The reviews, notes, and photographs on this site belong to the site owner unless stated otherwise. Book covers and quoted passages belong to their publishers and authors and appear here for commentary. You are welcome to quote a short passage of a review with a link back; please ask before reproducing a whole one.

Newsletter

Subscribing means you agree to receive the newsletter by email. You confirm by email first, and every issue has an unsubscribe link.

SMS program terms

Program. The Existential Bookstore capture nudges. The site's admin tool sends the site owner one interview question about a book he is reviewing, by text message or phone call, at weekday times he chooses, and records his replies so he can write the review in his own words.

Who receives messages. Only the site owner. He enrolled by entering his own mobile number in the site's admin settings and switching on the text window there. The program accepts no other recipients, and visitors and subscribers are never messaged.

Frequency. About one text message per weekday, never more than three nudges in a day, none on weekends and none during the quiet hours set in the settings. Message and data rates may apply.

To stop. Reply STOP to any message to cancel, or remove the number from the settings. Reply HELP for help, or email jay@existentialbookstore.com. Replying PAUSE, SNOOZE, SKIP, or NOT TODAY adjusts the schedule without cancelling.

Carriers. Messages are delivered by Twilio. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Privacy. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See the Privacy Policy.

No warranties

The site is offered as it is. The owner tries to keep it accurate and online but makes no promise that it will be, and is not liable for losses that come from relying on it or from the outside sites it links to.
